Lee of Christian Island Concert Series 2025
This past summer, with the support of Nookmis Trust, Guy Monague and his partner, Caroline, organized five highly enjoyable musical concerts on Christian Island (four of which were recorded). The 2025 Lee of Christian Island Concert Series featured some of the most talented musical artists from the First Nations community on Christian Island, the island’s cottage community, as well as the surrounding area. The performances took place at four locations on the island: Lighthouse Point, West Beach, the Waterfront Pavilion at the Main Dock, and the Pow Wow Grounds at Douglas Lake. Special thanks to Monague Point Cottager, Eli Rubenstein, and Colin White, for their efforts in recording, editing and posting these summer concerts.
The music included classic rock, folk, country and pop selections from the 60’s and 70’s, featuring covers of songs by Neil Young, CCR, Eric Clapton, Jim Hendrix, Blue Rodeo, Jerry Lew Lewis, Merle Haggard, Chuck Berry, Bob Seger, John Cougar Mellencamp, the Marshall Tucker Band, Ricky Skaggs, John Denver, the Beatles, ZZ Top and others. Also featured were traditional First Nations musical selections along with a few original compositions.
Christian Island and the immediate area are indeed blessed with an abundance of musical talent, and we were privileged to enjoy their performances this past summer. Below, please find a playlist of much of the music that was featured. We hope to see you again on the island in the summer of 2026 to enjoy even more outstanding musical performances that bring our communities closer together!
